How do you design jazz for both the vinyl collector and the Spotify scroller? I crafted a visual identity for Evening Starthat balanced the nostalgia of classic jazz with a forward-looking edge. Drawing on collage techniques and bold graphic treatments, I layered textures, photography, and color to reflect the band’s sound—rooted in tradition but reaching toward the future. The design leaned into a hand-cut, analog feel while incorporating futuristic aesthetics to mirror the album’s sonic range. Every element was considered across formats, ensuring the cover popped as a streaming thumbnail and held weight as a full-sized vinyl jacket.
The final piece struck a chord across generations, capturing the spirit of jazz in a way that felt both timeless and new. It resonated with crate diggers and digital listeners alike, bridging audiences through thoughtful visual storytelling.
